Tanzania, officially known as the United Republic of Tanzania, is a country located in East Africa within the African Great Lakes region. It is known for its vast wilderness areas, including the Serengeti National Park, famous for its annual migration of over 1.5 million white-bearded wildebeest and 250,000 zebra, and Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. The country also includes the Zanzibar Archipelago, a major tourist destination renowned for its historic Stone Town and beautiful beaches.
Dodoma is the official capital city of Tanzania, although Dar es Salaam remains the largest city and leading commercial hub. Tanzania’s population is diverse, comprising over 120 ethnic groups, with Swahili and English serving as the official languages. The country gained independence from British rule in the early 1960s and has since been characterized by political stability and economic growth, although it faces challenges such as poverty and infrastructure development. Tanzania’s economy is primarily based on agriculture, tourism, and mining. It is a member of the East African Community and plays a significant role in regional politics and trade.
